Do you have gazanias in your coastal garden? Want to replace them for FREE with local native plants?

NOTE: Date/venue have changed due to wet weather.

REVISED DATE: Sunday 19 June, 1pm - 3pm at Cove Civic Centre

Gazanias are a declared weed that harm our natural environment. They commonly 'escape' from gardens as their seeds easily spread, they're dumped in garden waste or are planted illegally. Once established in our coastal environments, they quickly outcompete local native plants and reduce habitat, food and shelter for local wildlife. They are costly to control and take valuable resources away from other important issues.

If you're a City of Marion resident or business , you can help by getting involved in our native plant giveaway!

What you need to do:

  • Carefully remove gazanias in your garden (maybe you have a single plant or a patch?)

  • Take a photo of the gazanias removed from your garden!

  • Dispose of the gazanias in your green organics bin (don't dump or transport them elsewhere)

  • Register and come to the Plant Swap Day at Cove Civic Centre. Show us your picture, and we'll send you home with a pack of local native coastal plants.

We'll also provide you with a free 'Coastal Gardens planting guide' and a sticker for your green organics bin.

PLEASE NOTE

  • This program is for City of Marion residents only.

  • Limited native plants are available (limit of 8 plants per household applies).

  • Limit of one ticket per household.
