Bruce Wilson
My name is Bruce Wilson and I have been a volunteer at Warriparinga for over 28 years, and during this time I have seen the river transform from a degraded area to now a pristine environment which is like an oasis to many native animals. Anything is achievable with the right people and attitudes and with this in mind the more people we can involve in restoring natural areas the better the climate will be for future generations.
Warriparinga is an extremely valuable area as it is the last piece of natural river course of any natural river on the Adelaide Plains. The Friends of Warriparinga have been able to restore this amazing piece of the river through our wonderful relationships with the City of Marion and many volunteers.
We are so proud of how this important section of the river has transformed and how many people visit this location, if you close your eyes and listen to the buzzing of the insects and the frogs croaking you wouldn’t believe you are in the middle of an area surrounded by main roads and highways. It is truly an amazing place.
Warri-Pari, an earlier name for what is now known as Warriparinga, means place by the river and is a Kaurna ceremonial meeting place and early European settlement site.
